Transit Service Strategies Survey (Public Survey #3)

The Transit Services Strategies Survey closed November 30, 2021.

Over 800 people participated! We are compiling results and will share a summary soon.

This third survey will help the planning team gain insight the community's interest in different types of potential transit service strategies and help guide plan recommendations.

November 10th Final Public Meeting

Thanks to all who joined us for the final public meeting. This open-house-style meeting allowed community members to drop in and have one-on-one conversations with Newton County staff and the planning team. Informational boards presented potential transit service strategies and funding mechanisms.

Technical Committee Meetings

The Technical Committee consists of Newton County staff representatives, local and regional governments, and regional transportation partners. The project team holds Technical Committee meetings in advance of each public meeting in order to gather input and refine recommendations prior to gathering public input. The Technical Committee provides policy guidance and general oversight.

November 3rd Meeting

The Technical Committee reviewed preliminary transit service recommendations for the County. Committee discussion focused on proposed transit service strategies for the County.

August 4th Meeting

The Technical Committee reviewed the latest milestones in the project, including a transit service needs assessment and market analysis. The discussion focused on an evaluation of peer transit systems in Georgia.

May 25th Meeting

Newton County Transportation Director Chester Clegg welcomed the Technical Committee members and introduced the project. The consultant team provided an overview of current and future conditions.

Transit Preferences Survey (Public Survey #2)

The Transit Preferences Survey closed September 8, 2021.

Over 1000 people participated! We are compiling results and will share a summary soon.

This second survey will help the planning team gain more insights into the feasibility of specific transit services and operations for Newton County. Topics include potential transit service types and options, service frequency, fare costs, and more.

August 11th Public Meeting

This open-house-style meeting allowed community members to drop in and have one-on-one conversations with Newton County staff and the planning team. Informational boards presented key considerations and goals for the Transit Master Plan as well as results from the previous survey and the transit service needs and market analysis.

Newton County community members and those with vested interest in the county’s future were encouraged to submit comment cards to provide feedback and share their ideas.

Transit Visioning Survey (Public Survey #1)

We collected input from Newton County community members via a brief, online survey. Results will help inform the planning process and help craft Newton County’s transit vision. The survey closed on June 6th. Thanks to the 800+ folks who participated!

May 27th Public Meeting

The event included a series of informational boards and input activities. Attendees learned more about the Transit Master Plan and provided their perspectives and ideas regarding transit in Newton County.

Newton County staff and the planning team were present to answer questions and assist with input activities.

The TMP is being led by Newton County and its cities in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission and in close collaboration with the Consultant Team, led by AECOM.
