Technical Committee Meetings

The Technical Committee consists of Newton County staff representatives, local and regional governments, and regional transportation partners. The project team holds Technical Committee meetings in advance of each public meeting in order to gather input and refine recommendations prior to gathering public input. The Technical Committee provides policy guidance and general oversight.

August 4th Meeting

The Technical Committee reviewed the latest milestones in the project, including a transit service needs assessment and market analysis. The discussion focused on an evaluation of peer transit systems in Georgia.

PAST ACTIVITIES

Transit Preferences Survey (Public Survey #2)

The Transit Preferences Survey closed September 8, 2021.

Over 1000 people participated! We are compiling results and will share a summary soon.

This second survey will help the planning team gain more insights into the feasibility of specific transit services and operations for Newton County. Topics include potential transit service types and options, service frequency, fare costs, and more.

The results of the Transit Visioning Survey can be viewed in the Document Library here.

August 11th Public Meeting

This open-house-style meeting allowed community members to drop in and have one-on-one conversations with Newton County staff and the planning team. Informational boards presented key considerations and goals for the Transit Master Plan as well as results from the previous survey and the transit service needs and market analysis.

Newton County community members and those with vested interest in the county’s future were encouraged to submit comment cards to provide feedback and share their ideas.
